The weekly Cabinet meeting, presided over by HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud ratified a draft law regulating the acquisition of predators.
As per the draft law, importing, raising and breeding of predators and taking them to public venues in Qatar is prohibited without a licence from relevant authorities.
The meeting also approved a draft law on the establishment and use of industrial zones.
The bill includes provisions related to the establishment and division of industrial zones, granting the privilege of establishing an industrial zone, the use of industrial zone lands, the state’s ownership of whatever resources that emerge or lie beneath the land of industrial zones, the use of industrial zones in manufacturing activities and the management and investment of these zones, licensing the establishment of industrial complexes in these areas and encouraging industrial activities, prohibiting the establishment of an industrial entity without a license, creating a committee on industrial zones to study requests of acquiring industrial zone vouchers and propose terms and conditions of allocating lands.
The bill also regulates commitments of industrial project owners, obligations of industrial land lessees and the liquidation of the project.
The Cabinet ratified a draft law on works involving power supply and water connections. According to the bill, these works are prohibited without a licence from Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation.
The draft law stipulates that types, terms and rates of such works are set by a decision from the minister of energy and industry. It also details prohibited works and procedures taken by the department concerned in case of violation by a subscriber.
In addition, the cabinet ratified a draft agreement on waiving visa for holders of diplomatic and special passports between the governments of Qatar and Romania. It also endorsed a draft agreement on air transport between the governments of Qatar and Belgium.
The meeting ratified a memorandum of understanding in the field of communications and information technology between Qatar’s Ministry of Information and Communications Technology and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology of India.
In the same context, the meeting endorsed a memorandum of understanding in the field of sport between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation of the Dominican Republic.
The cabinet agreed to hosting the meeting of GCC officials of family guidance and reconciliation in Doha on May 5 and 6.
The meeting reviewed a letter by the minister of economy and commerce on the outcome of the 95th regular ministerial session of the Arab League’s Economic and Social Council, which was held in Cairo in February, and took the necessary decision.
