Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) has held a special ceremony to honour 94 Qatari men and women who have completed its 2014-2015 Executive, Rising and Government Leaders programmes.
A number of Qatar’s most senior officials, including ministers, government officials, leading executives and special guests, attended the event yesterday.
In her speech, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani, chairperson of QLC’s board of directors, noted: “This special event marks another milestone in the mission of Qatar Leadership Centre to develop the capabilities of outstanding Qataris as an important way to support national progress toward the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030.”
“This was the vision of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani in creating Qatar Leadership Centre,” she continued. “After only a few years, this institution already plays an important role in Qatar’s development. It provides a national platform for leadership excellence, which serves as an accelerator for the progress of our nation.”
At the ceremony, HE Sheikha Al Mayassa announced the formation of the Qatar Leadership Centre Alumni Association to ensure that the network of QLC’s growing number of alumni will remain connected and can become further engaged in support of the development goals of Qatar.
HE Sheikh Dr Abdulla bin Ali al-Thani, member of the board of directors and managing director of QLC, said: “I am confident that the lessons QLC’s participants have learned in their course of study will enable them to further contribute to the development of Qatar. By sharing their experiences and utilising their collective expertise, our alumni can be a powerful resource for the nation.”
Among the 94 honorees this year are 33 members of the inaugural class of QLC’s new Government Leaders programme. The programme offers a curriculum customised to meet the requirements of Qatar’s government sector, which plays an increasingly important role in addressing the development needs of the nation.
The 27 Executive Leaders honoured have completed a specialised programme intended to further develop the capabilities of highly accomplished Qatari professionals aged 36 to 46 years who currently hold mid-to-senior level management positions.
QLC also honoured its 34 Rising Leaders, who have completed a rigorous curriculum designed to develop the capabilities of young promising Qataris between the ages of 25 to 35.  As QLC honours its newest alumni, classes for the third group of participants in the national leadership programmes are already under way at QLC.
