Members of the GCC team agreed to suggest the need for a unified GCC labour contract.

A GCC joint labour team held a meeting at Qatar Chamber (QC) headquarters on Tuesday to discuss the areas of co-operation among recruitment agencies in GCC countries and GCC Ministries of Labour.
Saad bin Nihar al-Baddah, head of the GCC joint labour team, said it was formed under the general secretariat of the GCC Chambers Union with the aim of promoting a positive image of the GCC recruitment agencies so as to reflect the humanitarian standards that the GCC countries observe when dealing with the expatriate workforce.
He said that the team will suggest a unified form of labour contract for all GCC countries that takes into consideration the particular legislation of each country and maintains the rights of both the employer and the employee.
He further affirmed that the team is keen to maintain close co-operation with the ministries concerned and look for new markets of workforce to help recruiters supply better solutions for the needs of the labour market. The team has discussed the difficulties of recruitment agencies and would work to help them devise proper solutions.
Saleh al-Sharqi, QC vice-general manager, stressed that QC offers its full support for the team to give the best options for employers while maintaining the highest standards of workers' rights in accordance with the international accords and agreements.
