United Development Company (UDC) has signed up as the silver sponsor of the book, ‘Qatar Achievements on Vocational Safety’, to be released in collaboration with Qatar Chamber today, marking the celebrations of World Day for Safety and Health.
UDC and other companies listed in the book will highlight their achievements in the field of occupational safety in order to share the successes and benefits, while several Safety Awards will be distributed during the book launch to selected winners in all sectors who prove commitment to implementing the best occupational safety standards and requirements.
As a leading Qatari development and investment company engaged in the establishment and management of a combination of project activities and commercial enterprise, UDC is keen on creating and maintaining the safest and healthiest working environments for all those who work with the group by constantly searching for new ways, methods and technologies that will improve safety standards, according to a statement.
Although the scale of health, safety and environment (HSE) activities varies across UDC and its subsidiaries, it is specifically paramount at The Pearl-Qatar, UDC’s flagship urban development, where health, safety and environmental regulations are in place.
At The Pearl-Qatar, UDC’s HSE Department carries out daily checks, audits and site visits to guarantee compliance through joint inspection with contractors in the various precincts on the island.
A UDC-initiated Contractor Incentive Programme has been in place for several years now, which acknowledges contractors’ hard work and commitment to employing environmentally safe and conscious work standards and practices on the construction site.
The book release will be an opportunity to reiterate UDC’s welfare and concern for expatriate workers and the community and to highlight its full commitment to their rights and provide a healthy living environment for them, the statement adds.
