HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani attended Turkey’s celebrations marking the 100th anniversary of the Battle of Canakkale (Gallipoli), under the title of “peace summit”, which was held at the conference centre in Istanbul, yesterday evening in the presence of a number of presidents, and heads of state and governments. HH the Emir attended a dinner banquet hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in honour of the presidents, heads of state and delegations who attended the celebrations. Earlier, HH the Emir met in Istanbul with New Zealand Prime Minister John Key and Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott  on the sidelines of celebrations. Discussions during the two meetings dealt with bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them, besides a number of issues of mutual interest. During the meeting, HH the Emir and the Turkish President reviewed bilateral ties between the two countries and ways of enhancing them in various fields and discussed a number of regional and international issues, particularly the latest developments in the region.
