Katara - the Cultural Village Foundation has launched a book on the winter 2013 voyage of the traditional dhow, Fateh al Khair, to the Gulf ports.
The book release coincided with the start of the fourth edition of Senyar Championship for fishing and pearl diving.
Titled Great Meaning - Fateh al Khair Voyage to the Gulf Ports, the book features pictures taken by prominent Qatari photographer and Qatar Photographic Society president Ahmed Yousef al-Khulaifi.
The launch of the book was announced by Katara general manager Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, along with al-Khulaifi and Katara’s Research and Studies director Dr Nadia al-Mudahka.
The journey of Fateh al Khair to Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman and the UAE was launched under the auspices of HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani.
“This important book is intended to depict and revive the historic voyage of Fateh al Khair dhow through words and photographs,” Dr al-Sulaiti said at the launch event.
