Qatar University (QU) and Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) signed an  agreement yesterday to  enhance co-ordination and communication for the construction and operation of the Red Line North Rail Station at QU in line with Qatar Rail Development Project (QRDP).
The agreement was signed by QU President Prof Sheikha Abdulla al-Misnad and Qatar Rail CEO Saad Ahmed al-Muhannadi in the presence of several senior officials from QU and Qatar Rail.
The agreement aims to provide mechanisms for co-operation, co-ordination, communication and exchange of information between both QU and Qatar Rail, and any third party. Both institutions will establish and agree on work content, programme and sequencing, as well as the identification and resolution of issues necessary for the execution and completion of Qatar Rail activities and other works.
In the terms of the agreement, both institutions will form a joint working group to manage and organise the processes and procedures and co-ordinate with other relevant parties and working groups, such as interface meetings with stakeholders, among others. The group will also address all matters necessary to facilitate the objectives of QRDP and QU Master Plan 2030 Legacy vision.
Prof al-Misnad said: “We are pleased to co-operate with Qatar Rail in the spirit of co-operation between academic and industrial sectors, and the commitment of both to serve the wider community through various services. This agreement will enhance our efforts to support national development activities as well as the aspirations of the society as the country prepares itself for hosting Fifa World Cup 2022 and other top international events.”
Al-Muhannadi said: “Providing convenient methods of transportation for students on campus comes as part of Qatar Rail’s vision, that aims to equip the country’s main university grounds and public hubs with the latest techniques and technologies for a smooth, quick and green model of transport.
“Close communication with our partners and contractors is very important to Qatar Rail in order to complete our projects on time and without complications. We are very glad to be co-operating with Qatar University,” he added.
