Qatar Airways National Talent Management has teamed up with Rolls-Royce to create a specialised training programme for Qatari nationals as part of its Al Darb Qatarisation programme.
The new Business Management and Commercial Awareness Programme has been designed to enable Al Darb participants to experience and learn from Rolls-Royce’s leadership and strategy expertise.
Professional experts from throughout Rolls-Royce will introduce students to a variety of topics, including corporate strategy, financial management, relationship marketing and customer service management.
The dedicated programme will be delivered at Rolls-Royce’s facility in Derby, UK, and will be available exclusively to Qatari nationals enrolled in the Al Darb Qatarisation programme.
The training is one of the many initiatives developed by Qatar Airways National Talent Management to provide Al Darb participants with the opportunity to connect with and learn from the airline’s global strategic partners.
Dr Kholode al-Obaidli, Qatar Airways vice-president for National Talent Management, said: “Qatar Airways is excited to be collaborating with Rolls-Royce on this specialised programme, which provides an essential skills-set training for the next generation of aviation professionals.
“This is a unique opportunity for Al Darb participants to learn from some of the sharpest business minds in the aviation industry. The Business Management and Commercial Awareness Programme is one of the many initiatives the Al Darb Qatarisation programme is implementing to support talented young nationals to improve their professional skills and fulfil leadership roles in the aviation industry.”
During the first six months, Qatari nationals under the Al Darb umbrella go through an average of 32 days of soft skills and technical skills courses internally via Qatar Airways’ Learning and Development department. And, after completion of a minimum of one year, they receive external training with Qatar Airways’ strategic partners along with an IATA diploma.
In addition, Rolls-Royce will also hold a Management Essentials course for Qatar Airways’ senior Qatari managers and provide professional coaches to support the Qataris in their career development.
Peter Dunsford, Rolls-Royce senior vice-president (customers), said: “The Rolls-Royce and Qatar Airways training and development programmes deliver far more than applied theory, they nurture a depth of cultural and business understanding that creates a stronger and more collaborative relationship between our two organisations. It is the commitment of the delegates to this shared learning that has made these programmes so successful and rewarding for all those involved.”
