Katara - the Cultural Village Foundation has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organisation (Alecso).
The MoU makes Katara a gateway for Arabic culture, with the initial phase targeting Arabic literature, in particular novels, and featuring a study forum on the economic importance of the culture and creative industry in developing local societies.
Besides, Katara will host the upcoming meeting of the Alecso Permanent Committee for Arabic Culture, which will be held during Katara’s Arabic novel festival next month.
The MoU was signed by Dr Khalid bin Ibrahim al-Sulaiti, general manager of Katara, and Dr Abdullah Hamed Muhareb, director-general of Alecso.  
Dr al-Sulaiti stressed that the MoU would further enhance the role of Katara in the promotion of Arabic culture and help support rising Arab talent.
