'The Girl in the Gulf', the winning picture. Inset: Photographer Kelly Beckta.

Doha

The 'Girl in the Gulf ' has been adjudged winner of the Gulf Times Instagram contest No II. The young girl's searching look that seems to go well beyond the dimensions of the frame might have made the picture an instant hit.
Taken by Canadian expat Kelly Beckta, 45, who is a Director of Nursing in Doha, the picture stands apart for its perfect harmony.
It was two and a half years ago that Kelly moved to Doha, almost the same time she got her first DSLR camera. An aspiring travel photographer, it is her first win in any photography contest and she says she is still teaching herself how to use the DSLR.
