HE the Foreign Minister Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah held separate meetings with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and several other dignitaries on the sidelines of the 13th United Nations Crime Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.
Dr Khalid bin Mohamed al-Attiyah met Iraqi counterpart Dr Ibrahim al Jaafari, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Natalia Gherman, Tanzanian Minister of Foreign Affairs Bernard Membe, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia Ivica Dacic, Gambian Minister of Foreign Affairs Neneh Macdouall-Gaye, and Comoros’ Minister of Foreign Affairs and Co-operation Dr Al Aref Sayed Hassan.
Bilateral relations and issues of joint interest were discussed during the meetings.

Qatar welcomes appointment of new Yemeni vice-president

The State of Qatar welcomed the appointment of Khalid Bahah as vice-president of Yemen, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The Foreign Ministry’s statement hoped that this would be a step towards maintaining the legitimacy and upholding Yemen’s security and stability.  The Foreign Ministry wished Bahah success in his mission, particularly in view of the difficult circumstances Yemen is witnessing.

Qatar-Pakistan ties reviewed

HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs Major General Hamad bin Ali al-Attiyah held a meeting with Pakistan’s Minister for States and Frontier Regions Abdul Qadir Baloch in Doha yesterday.  The meeting dealt with bilateral relations. Pakistan’s Ambassador to Qatar Shahzad Ahmed attended the meeting.

Advisory Council meets

The Advisory Council held its weekly meeting yesterday under the chairmanship of its Speaker HE Mohamed bin Mubarak Al Khulaifi.   The Advisory Council discussed a report by the Advisory Council’s Interior and External Affairs Committee on amending some of the provisions of traffic law No. 19 for 2007.
