Qatar’s population has grown to 2,346,732, according to the latest figures released by the Ministry of Development Planning & Statistics.
The figures released yesterday showed a rise of 12,603 people, compared to February 28.
The ministry said the population has gone up by more than 10% compared to the corresponding month last year when it was 2,144,102.
Even though the latest figure is the highest-ever in Qatar, there has been a marginal fall (582,374) in the number of women compared to last month, which stood at 584,427. That was the highest ever figure of women recorded in the country.
The male population went up by nearly 15,000, according to the latest figures. While there were 1,764,358 men on March 31, the number on February 28, was 1,749,602.
The latest figure has also shown that there has been a 46 % rise in population since November 2008, when the country had only 1,569,174 people.
Past records show the population usually grows in the month of April compared to the preceding month. But between May and September, the figures show a decline as a large number of residents leave the country on holidays.
