The management team at the Qatar Railways Company (Qatar Rail) reviewed the progress of its ongoing works and also performance targets at a four-day summit of its senior leadership held from March 25-28.
The managers vowed to explore the best strategic initiatives to develop the company's leadership and achieve continuous improvement in its activities.
It was announced at the meeting that one of the main objectives of the Qatar Rail’s management retreat was to ensure that the company combined excellence and innovation in delivering the project and also in its management practices.
Welcoming the delegates, the company's Managing Director and Chairman of the board, Abdulla Abdulaziz al-Subaie congratulated the members on the progress that the company has achieved since its inception.
"As the Doha Metro's tunnel boring machines operations are progressing according to our hopes and the expectations, we look forward to see more milestones on worksites in the near future while adhering to time plans and budgets”.
“We are using the latest technologies to bring a new rail network to Qatar and have developed a real excellence in project delivery. We need to ensure that we take the same approach to innovation in our management practices so that Qatar Rail becomes a real leader in the corporate sector.”
The summit was planned to enable the company leadership to spend some time away from the office focusing on ways in which the managers could better engage with stakeholders – both internal and external.
The management summit came as part of Qatar Rail’s acknowledgment of its employees’ high value and their role in the company’s development and success.
The company is always searching for new and better ways to engage with the workforce; to listen to their needs, remind them of the importance of their role and communicate how to achieve future targets and resolve conflicts.
Qatar Rail is the company responsible for the design, construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance of the entire rail network and systems in Qatar which comprises the Doha Metro, the Lusail Light Rail Transit and the Long Distance Rail Network for Passengers and Freight.
