Cathay Pacific Airways has celebrated the first year of its Doha-Hong Kong service.
In a statement, the airline has said it is set to move forward into the second year of the service following the “remarkable response and success” it garnered throughout its first year of operations from Qatar.
Serviced by an Airbus A330-300 aircraft with a three-class configuration that includes the award-winning business class, premium economy class and long-haul economy class, Cathay Pacific Airways launched the daily Doha-Hong Kong service on March 30, 2014, following the announcement of a strategic agreement with oneworld alliance partner, Qatar Airways.
Since then, passenger figures have continuously grown on the Doha-Hong Kong route, which have significantly contributed to the strong overall performance of Hong Kong’s home airline, according to the statement.
Additionally, in conjunction with the first anniversary celebrations of the Doha-Hong Kong route, Cathay Pacific is launching a special promotion that includes a 50% discount for business class passengers flying to select destinations such as China, Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Singapore, Taiwan, North America and Malaysia.
This promotion is available during the sales period of April 5 to 30 and travel must be undertaken from April 10 to October 31.
At the celebrations attended by officials from Cathay Pacific, Trans-Orient Group and Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways manager for Qatar, Nick Brooks, said: “As we enter our second year, our commitment to customers in Doha shall include the constant enhancement of our products and services.
“With the launch of Cathay Pacific Airways’ ‘Life Well Travelled’ campaign as well as our refreshed branding design, I am confident that our Doha-Hong Kong service will continue to grow its customer base and enjoy an even greater response in the years to come.”
Ehab Abdel Fattah Amin, senior vice-president (commercial), Qatar Airways, said: “We congratulate our oneworld alliance partner, Cathay Pacific Airways, for the highly successful first year of their Doha-Hong Kong service. Our strategic partnership has provided the market with unparalleled synergies of our strengths and unmatched service delivery that includes greater benefits for loyal customers.”
