HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi presiding over a session of official talks between Qatar and India in New Delhi yesterday.

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a session of official talks at Hyderabad House here yesterday.
They discussed bilateral relations and ways of promoting co-operation in various fields, especially in the investment sector.
They exchanged views on issues of mutual concern and the latest developments on the Arab and international arenas.
Members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir and Indian ministers attended the session of talks.
Later, the Emir and the Indian prime minister witnessed the signing of following  agreements and memoranda of understanding between the governments of the two countries:
1.An agreement on transfer of sentenced prisoners between the governments of Qatar and the India.
2.A memorandum of understanding for co-operation in the field of diplomatic training between Qatari Foreign Ministry’s Diplomatic Institute and the Indian Ministry of External Affairs’ Foreign Service Institute
3.A memorandum of understanding for co-operation in the field of communications and information technology between Qatar’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and India’s Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
4.A memorandum of understanding for scientific and technical co-operation between Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and Indian Ministry of Earth Sciences’ Earth System Science Organisation
5.A memorandum of understanding for co-operation in the field of radio and television between the governments of Qatar and India
6.An agreement for co-operation and exchange of news between the Qatar News (QNA) and the United News of India (UNI).
Prior to the talks, the Emir and the Prime Minister of India held a bilateral meeting attended by members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir, during which talks focused on enhancing the historic relations between the two countries and the two peoples, in addition to issues of mutual concern.  
Earlier the Emir was accorded an official ceremonial red carpet welcome at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi yesterday morning.
The Emir was welcomed at the Rashtrapati Bhavan by India’s President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In the evening, the Emir held talks with President Mukherjee at then Rashtrapati Bhavan.  
The two leaders discussed aspects of bilateral co-operation and exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues.  
The members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir attended the meeting.
From the Indian side, the meeting was attended by a number of ministers.
The Emir also met Indian Vice-President Hamid Ansari.  
They reviewed bilateral relations and means of enhancing them in various fields.  
The  Emir held a separate meeting with India’s Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and her accompanying delegation at the Emir’s residence in New Delhi.
Talks covered bilateral relations and ways of enhancing them, as well as the latest developments in the region.
Indian Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan also called on the Emir at his residence in New Delhi yesterday.  
They reviewed bilateral relations between the two countries, especially in the energy sector.  
Later the Emir attended a reception hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce in collaboration with the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry on the occasion of the Qatari-Indian Economic Forum.
During the reception, which was held at ATC Maurya Hotel yesterday afternoon, the Emir met several  top businessmen and investors as well as heads of major Indian companies and senior officials. Discussions during the meeting focused on relations between the two countries in the economic, trade and investment sectors.
