HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani arrived in New Delhi yesterday for a two-day state visit to India.
The Emir was received at Palam Air Force Base by Indian Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh, Qatar’s Ambassador to India, Ahmed Ibrahim al-Abdullah, and India’s Ambassador to Qatar Sanjeev Arora in addition to senior Indian officials and Arab ambassadors accredited to India.
The Emir is accompanied by a high-level official delegation.
In his remarks upon arrival, the Emir greeted India’s President Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the government and the people.
The Emir noted the historical relations between Qatar and India and affirmed his commitment to continue supporting these relations in various fields.
The Emir said that he looks forward to meeting India’s president and prime minister and exchanging views with them on issues of common interest, expressing his confidence that this visit will contribute to the development of co-operation between the two countries.

Emir greets Sultan Qaboos
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables to Sultan Qaboos of Oman extending their congratulations on his safe return to his country after a successful treatment abroad, wishing him the best of health and the Omani people further progress and prosperity.

Message from Afghan president
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday received a written message from Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.
Foreign Minister’s Assistant for Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi was handed the message by Charges D’affaires of Afghanistan’s embassy in Qatar Mohamed Kasim, during their meeting yesterday.  
A number of officials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the meeting.

Deputy PM meets Jimmy Carter

HE the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid al-Mahmoud yesterday met former US president Jimmy Carter, who is also the founder of Carter Center, and the delegation accompanying him.  They discussed issues of joint interest.

Qatar condoles air crash victims
Qatar has expressed its condolences and sympathy to the victims of the German plane that crashed over the Alps in the south of France yesterday.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry expressed Qatar’s sympathy to the families of victims who died in the tragic incident.
