Aspetar, Qatar’s Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, and Sidra Medical and Research Centre (Sidra), have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for establishing a partnership between the two organisations.
The MoU was signed by Aspetar’s director general Dr Khalifa al-Kuwari, and Sidra’s executive vice chief medical officer Dr Abdulla al-Kaabi.
The agreement will encompass collaboration in the provision of healthcare services for treating paediatric sports related injuries.
This initiative will be launched at Aspetar utilising the highly skilled healthcare workforce of Sidra.
The services include paediatric orthopaedic surgery limited to sports related injuries, screening of younger athletes and other related allied health services within Aspetar’s scope of services.
A team of Sidra healthcare professionals including physicians, allied health professionals and nurses will be accredited to deliver patient care at Aspetar. This agreement is a foundation for a fully integrated and collaborative referral system between the two organisations in the future.
Dr al-Kuwari said: “The agreement with Sidra will be the start of a robust long-standing relationship between the organisations. We are looking forward to working with Sidra’s team and share expertise in the fields of clinical services, education and research. We always aim to raise the level of healthcare services across Qatar, and partnerships of this nature and co-ordinated planning align with the goals and objectives of the National Health Strategy 2011-2016 and the Qatar National Vision 2030.”
He said “the relationship with Aspetar is part of a network of integral partnerships that Sidra is establishing with many healthcare providers to improve the overall standard care for paediatric and women’s health services in the country. Our experienced physicians, allied health professionals and nurses will complement Aspetar’s world-class team and services.”
