Maersk Oil Qatar has launched its 2015 recruitment drive, aimed at attracting more Qataris to work with the country’s largest offshore operator and increasing those in leadership, specialist and offshore roles.
Three Qataris who have forged successful careers at Maersk Oil in Qatar will front the latest phase of the Find Your Place campaign, which has already contributed to a rise in the number and calibre of Qatari applicants and employees, according to a statement.
Find Your Place promotes the message of “real jobs with real responsibilities” through the personal experiences of Maersk Oil’s talented Qatari employees. The campaign will bolster recruitment activities to help successfully deliver the company’s Qatarisation Strategy, alongside workplace initiatives like one-to-one coaching, mentoring and fast-track development for high achievers.
Find Your Place comprises print, mall and online advertising, in addition to an online information and job application portal, www.FindYourPlace.qa
Lewis Affleck, managing director of Maersk Oil Qatar, said: “Qatarisation is a key business priority for us. As part of the Maersk Group, with five separate business units already active in Qatar and operations in more than 130 countries worldwide, I believe there is no better international company for talented Qataris to join.”
Deputy team lead (marine and pipeline) Mohamed al-Marri, head of HR services Moza Yousef al-Naimi and inspection co-ordinator Khalid Jassim Haji will feature prominently in the campaign, highlighting their experiences and career progression at Maersk Oil Qatar.
Sheikh Faisal bin Fahad al-Thani, Maersk Oil Qatar’s deputy managing director, said: “Talented and driven Qataris have helped build our reputation as specialists in extracting oil from the complex Al Shaheen field, offshore Qatar - but we need more if we are to unlock the full potential of this important national resource.”
In 2013, the company’s new Qatarisation Strategy stated a commitment to quadruple the number of Qataris in leadership and senior specialist positions by 2017. With that goal in mind, a series of bespoke programmes were launched to support the career and leadership development of Qataris - arming them with the skills, tools, confidence and support to manage people, lead projects or become senior specialists and leaders.
Sheikh Jassim bin Saud al-Thani, Maersk Oil Qatar’s head of Qatarisation, said: “Attracting, developing and retaining the very best Qatari talent will be just as important for Maersk Oil Qatar in the future as it has been in the past.”
