HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani yesterday visited the headquarters of Ooredoo, where he was met by chairman of the board of directors for Ooredoo Group Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed al-Saud, who is also chief executive of the Qatar Investment
Authority.
The Prime Minister was briefed on Ooredoo’s plans for 2015 to establish Qatar’s first smart city with Lusail Real Estate Development Company.
The Prime Minister also toured Ooredoo’s oasis lab and was briefed by chief new business officer for Ooredoo Sheikh Nasser bin Hamad bin Nasser al-Thani on a number of features in smart cities such as its recovery solutions to natural disasters, monitoring cameras and Wi-Fi services.
The Prime Minister expressed his support for the project and called for finishing it on schedule.
Ooredoo is looking to providing innovative technology to the dwellers and businesspeople who will reside in Lusail, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 which aims to build a knowledge-based economy.
