The British Council in Qatar and Qatari Businesswomen Association (QBWA) hosted the Annual Gala Dinner of Springboard, the award-winning women’s development programme.
The gala dinner was held in celebration of International Women’s Day as part of the British Festival.
Springboard is a leading UK-based women’s development programme designed by women, for women. The event was organised to showcase the success stories of high-achieving Qatari women who have contributed to society across multiple fields.
The gala dinner also celebrated the progress and achievements of all Springboard participants and honoured Springboard’s trainers who work alongside women through coaching, mentoring and facilitating an environment where women can reach their goals.   
The Springboard Annual Gala Dinner forms part of the ongoing GREAT British Festival.
Cecille El Beleidi, deputy head of mission at the British embassy in Doha, said: “I am delighted to be participating in the Springboard Annual Gala Dinner organised by the British Council and Qatari Businesswomen’s Association on the occasion of International Women’s Day.”
Mishael al-Ansari, who spoke on behalf of QBWA, said: “The Qatari Businesswomen’s Association is always ready and willing to co-operate with organisations aiming to develop women in Qatar.”
A special panel of Qatari women comprising Bothaina al-Ansari, senior HR director of Ooredoo and board member of QBWA, Dr Hend Abdalrahman Almuftah, associate professor, department of management and marketing - College of Business and Economics, Qatar University, and Sharoq al-Malki, EGM and chief human capital officer, Commercial Bank, and moderated by Hissa al-Suwaidi, a British Council-Springboard licensed trainer, brought out valuable insights about female
empowerment.
While al-Ansari spoke on how Springboard has developed women in the corporate sector, al-Malki focused on equality in the workplace.
