The Indian Cultural Festival starts today at Katara, the Cultural Village’s Amphitheatre and Esplanade. Featuring shows and artistic activities from 29 states of India, the event will start at noon and go on until 10pm.
The official opening ceremony will be at 4pm at Katara Beach, where a 10m high replica of India Gate has been erected. The actual structure, 42m high, is located at the centre of the Indian capital city New Delhi, commemorating the 70,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives fighting for the British Army during the World War I.
Tomorrow, the festival will continue from 10am to 10pm. Visitors will have the opportunity to taste some traditional Indian dishes and get introduced to handicrafts of various Indian cultures.
