Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain yesterday received the credentials of Saqr bin Mubarak al-Mansouri as Qatar’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Pakistan.
The ambassador conveyed to the Pakistani president greetings of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani. For his part, the Pakistani president asked the ambassador to convey his greetings to HH the Emir.

 HE the President of the Administrative Control and Transparency Authority Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah yesterday met Japanese ambassador to Qatar Shingo Tsuda. During the meeting, they discussed issues of common interest.

lRuler of Fujairah and Member of the Supreme Council of the Union Sheikh Hamad bin Mohamed al-Sharqi yesterday met Qatar’s consul general in Dubai Ahmed bin Ali Abdulrahman Altamimi. They discussed steps to boost relations in all fields.

Unclaimed prizes worth QR200,000
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce has spotted more than 300 unclaimed prizes worth QR200,000 at the various commercial outlets that ran various promotion raffles.
The prizes were not handed over to the winners because of a lack of contact information, or unclear personal data on the raffle coupons. The unclaimed prizes included TVs, mobile phones, gold coins, electric and home appliances and gift vouchers.
The ministry has confiscated such prizes and would donate them to the local charities as it is the usual practice in such cases.

88 violations detected in February
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) detected 88 commercial violations in February.
The violations came to light during surprise and regular inspection campaigns at various commercial outlets in the country.
Most of these violations – 33 – pertained to not posting the prices of items or charges of services. Nine were regarding the display of expired products, eight about not posting information and prices of items in Arabic while the rest pertained to providing misleading or false descriptions of items and services and other violations.
Penalties for such violations include a fine ranging from QR5,000 to QR30,000 based on local consumer protection laws and regulations.

Livestock fest ends
The fourth edition of the annual Qatar livestock festival, Halal Qatar, concluded yesterday at Katara.
The daily auctions over 10 days raised more than QR1mn with the participation of 170 persons who displayed some 600 heads of different types of sheep and goat.
