The Qatari-Russian joint committee for trade, economic, scientific and technical co-operation held its first meeting in Doha yesterday, a statement released by the Ministry of Energy and Industry said.
Chaired by HE the Minister of Energy and Industry Dr Mohamed bin Saleh al-Sada, and Russian Energy Minister Alexander Novak, the meeting discussed co-operation in the areas of trade, joint investment, energy, industry, science, education, culture and finance.
The statement added that the two sides agreed to continue the successful co-operation and to prepare for holding the next session and business forum in Moscow in 2016.
Experts and researchers from the Ministry of Energy and Industry, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), Qatar Holding, Ministry of Environment, Hassad Food, Qatar Museums Authority, General Authority of Civil Aviation, Qatar Petroleum and Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage participated in the meeting.
From the Russian side, the meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ministry of Education and Science and the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance and a number of Russian companies such as Gazprom, Russian Railways, Russian Direct Investment Fund and Russia’s Sukhoi Civil Aircraft company.
The joint committee is scheduled to continue its two-day meeting to discuss issues related to trade and joint investment.
