Commercial Bank, one of the leading full service banks in Qatar, has participated in the MENA Universities Summit at Qatar University.
Commercial Bank CEO Abdulla Saleh al-Raisi spoke in a panel titled: ‘University and Industry Collaboration’ along with Qatar Airways Group chief executive Akbar al-Baker, Qatar Electricity and Water Company general manager and managing director Fahad Hamad al-Mohannadi, and Qapco vice chairman and CEO Dr Mohamed Yousef al-Mulla.
Al-Raisi stated that investing and developing human capital through education and training has been Commercial Bank’s vision.
“This vision is influenced by our belief that no one can predict the outcome of human development, but we can create the conditions under which it will begin to flourish.
“We promote an intellectual environment at Commercial Bank through collaborations with leading educational providers and universities such as HEC Paris, Cambridge University, and Omega, together with supporting an endowed Professor of Finance at Qatar University.
“We are committed to developing the skills and career progression of our employees by encouraging staff to participate in our new training curriculum using Bawabah: Commercial Bank’s proprietary learning, development, and career management portal,” al-Raisi added.
The inaugural MENA Universities Summit, dedicated to addressing the development of world-class education and research in the MENA region, was hosted in partnership between the UK’s The Times Higher Education publication and Qatar University.
