A delegation from the Ministry of Interior delivered Public Keys of Qatari e-passports to upload in Public Keys Directory (PKD) system of International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
A recent ceremony at Montreal, Canada, was attended by Brigadier Abdullah Saad al- Buainain, director of Nationality and Travel Documents Department; Brigadier Abdul Rahman Ali al-Maliki, assistant director general of  General Directorate of Information Systems; and Captain Ahmed Khaled al-Hamr from the Directorate General of Information Systems.
Christina, director of the Certification of Centre of ICAO, attended the programme accompanied by a number of officials of the organisation.
This action comes as a continuation of the development plans of Qatari e-passport, aimed at improving and enhancing electronic and direct verification of passport biometric data and facilitate passage of e-passport holders through border control points of PKD participants.
It is known that the PKD Board of the International Civil Aviation Organisation “ICAO” works to achieve maximum accuracy and verification of physical and biometric data for e-passports and travel documents all over the world through joint work on the improvement and development of encryption technologies and mutual support and exchange of expertise among experts and specialists participating in the board.
Qatar represented by Ministry of Interior has joined ICAO PKD that consist of 45 countries including the European Union, the US and China. Qatar was the first Gulf Country that issued e-passport in 2008 as per the specification of ICAO.
