The engineers based in the region’s states are committed to deliver the highest professional standards while executing projects to meet the growing requirements of the governments and people, said Ashghal president and senior engineer Nasser Ali al-Mawlawi.
The top Ashghal official said this while inaugurating the 18th Gulf Engineering Forum, at St Regis Hotel Doha yesterday. The forum, attended by about 400 engineers from across the Gulf states will conclude tomorrow.
While delivering the keynote address, al-Mawlawi said every country has its goals and objectives and their timely fulfilment depended on the dedication,  involvement and more importantly the commitment of the engineers associated with such projects.
Terming infrastructural development as the vital and strategic vehicle for every country’s overall development, al-Mawlawi said the engineers working on major projects would give their best to help the countries grow in accordance with the dream of its people. He said the engineers in Qatar are committed to deliver their projects, meeting the stipulated standards and also in line with the goals and objectives of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
Elaborating on the activities of the organisation that he heads (Ashghal), al-Mawlawi said as its slogan reveals, “Qatar deserves the best” and every professional involved in the projects initiated by his organisation or those associating with those projects that it handles, is committed to achieve the best results in the stipulated time.
While referring to the developments happening across the region, al-Mawlawi said massive infrastructure upgrade is taking place in the Gulf states and the services of experienced professionals are needed at every juncture.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE) and Vice President of the ongoing Gulf Engineering Forum, Ahmed Jassim al-Jolo said the organisation of engineers is not only committed to the professional enhancement of its members but is also equally concerned about such issues as the upgrading of educational skills, technological applications and similar issues in the region’s educational institutions where engineers are taught.
The senior Qatari engineer said the local forum’s members are attending reputable global and regional level conferences and workshops at regular intervals, to upgrade their skills, expertise and knowledge, and are also engaged in a continuous process aimed at enhancing their professional competence. Heads of several government engineering organisations and institutions from across the Gulf region are attending the forum.
Yesterday, awards and mementoes were given to several engineers who contributed to the completion of projects in the member states. A number of engineers from Qatar were also honoured.
