A South American jeweller, who was a first-time participant at the recent Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition, won the attention of a large number of connoisseurs both with his immaculately designed store at the Alfardan pavilion as well as with the tempting pieces it showcased.
Goldesign had on display everything that matters in the industry except gold. Its remarkably huge array of collections made of rare stones and diamonds, most of which procured from South America made the stall a hit at the venue.
Marcelo Albuquerque, who set up the company two decades ago in Brazil’s Belo Horizonte in Sao Paulo province, and his designer wife Ana feel so high about the responses that they received from their visitors. “Though it was my first visit to the expo, I have realised the depth of the affluent locals, whose knowledge of the industry is enormous,” said Albuquerque.
“Here the customers simply love exclusivity and finesse,” said the Brazilian, who seems immensely happy with the responses that he received and vows that he would return for the event next year.
“I would be able to return once again with the stones and other pieces that this country’s collectors are looking for,” he said while pointing at his collection of turquoise, amethyst, red jasper and carnelian stones among others at the store.
An ‘Enchante’ necklace at his stall costs $300,000 and there are many other similar pieces which are equally
expensive.
