A ceremony was held at the Diplomatic Club on Thursday to mark the finale of the Qatar National Environment Day celebrations of the Indian Cultural Centre.
HE the Minister of Environment Ahmed Amer Mohamed al-Humaidi was the chief guest at the event, where winners of various competitions held to mark the event were awarded and the role of all participants was lauded.
ICC, under the aegis of the Indian embassy in Qatar, conducted the environment awareness programme with support from the Ministry of Environment.
ICC president Girish Kumar welcomed the gathering at the Diplomatic Club. HE the Minister appreciated the efforts made by the Indian community, through ICC in particular, to support and achieve one of the four pillars (environmental development) of Qatar National Vision 2030. On behalf of the government, HE al-Humaidi lauded the Indian community and ICC for the successful Environment Day campaign and competitions, especially the Green March held on the Doha Corniche on Thursday.
He also acknowledged that this was the first time in the history of Qatar that an expatriate community was taking the lead in motivating people on environmental campaigns as part of the Qatar National Environment Day celebrations.
