The Russian embassy in Qatar has held a reception at the residence of the Russian envoy on the occasion of honouring Ahmed S al-Midhadi, former ambassador of Qatar in Moscow, with the Order of Excellence in co-operation with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
HE the Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi, chief of protocol in Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) Ibrahim Yousif Abdullah Fakhro, Russian Ambassador Nurmakhmad Kholov, al-Midhadi, Russian diplomats and employees of MoFA attended the event.
In his speech, Kholov said: “We have gathered on a very good and important occasion, which is decorating Ahmed S al-Midhadi, who served as Qatari ambassador in Moscow between 2009 and 2014, with the Order of Excellence in co-operation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.”
Kholov stressed that al-Midhadi “accomplished his duty as ambassador with dignity and honour and contributed greatly to the development of bilateral relations in various fields”.
Decorating al-Midhadi with this order, which is usually given to the most efficient foreign ambassadors who have served in Russia, is recognition of his sustained efforts in strengthening Russian-Qatari relations, it was observed.
Al-Midhadi thanked the Russian ambassador for holding the event and al-Rumaihi and Fakhro for their attendance. He said he considered his decoration with the Order not only as a sign of respect for him personally but also as a recognition of the flourishing Russian-Qatari relations.
He was also pleased to stress that the first session of the Joint Russo-Qatari Inter-Governmental Commission would be held in Doha on March 3 and 4.
Al-Midhadi appreciated the efforts of Kholov in boosting Russian-Qatari relations and also expressed gratitude to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov for his hospitality in Moscow and the Russian leadership for strengthening co-operation with Qatar.
Al-Rumaihi thanked Ambassador Kholov for his valuable efforts in the development of bilateral co-operation in various fields, including preparations for the joint commission in Doha next month.
