Ezdan Holding Group has sponsored Tajer, a community outreach programme of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMUQ), a member of Qatar Foundation.
The programme drew 50 students from 15 secondary schools, aiming to develop their skills in e-commerce and expand their knowledge of the latest developments in the economic arena. The students were also able to learn more about the business administration programme at CMUQ.
The session, which was held recently, hosted a line-up of experts in the economic field. They explained how to manage stock exchange operations, securities and price changes. Lectures also took place on how technology contributed to transforming and extending the application of markets to daily life.
Ezdan Holding Group CEO Ali Mohamed al-Obaidli stressed the eagerness of the Group to sponsor and fund such initiatives because it fulfils all its objectives, targeting co-operation with educational institutions in order to support economic and human development as well as scientific research initiatives.
“We, at the Ezdan management, seek to strengthen ongoing education initiatives that constitute an important stream in spreading the economic awareness culture as the Tajer programme implies. There is no doubt that, in Qatar, we need to develop the economic culture and pave the way for those outreach opportunities as they serve Qatar National Vision 2030,” said al-Obaidli.
Al-Obaidli also emphasised the aspiration of the Group to support further educational initiatives in the future, as well as promoting closer co-operation with Carnegie Mellon University and the education sector in general.
Ilker Baybars, dean and CEO of CMUQ, said: “As students apply and prepare for university, Carnegie Mellon is pleased to offer secondary school students an insider’s view of financial markets and trading, and the business administration programme at CMUQ. We are grateful for the involvement of Ezdan Holding Group and look forward to partnering again on future educational and community initiatives.”
Ezdan Holding Group had earlier signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with CMUQ to co-operate in the fields of scientific research, strategic studies, scholarships, exchange of business administration specialists and researchers, information systems, executive education, national capacity building, scientific conferences and community development.
