The preparations for the 13th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, scheduled in Doha from April 12 to 19, were discussed in Moscow by a delegation headed by Major General Abdullah Yusuf al-Mal, the adviser of HE the Minister of Interior of Qatar, who is also the chairman of the preparatory committee.
The delegation met senior officials from relevant ministries in Russia, including the director of the Department on New Challenges and Threats of the Russian Foreign Ministry Ilya Rogachev, and State Secretary and Deputy Minister of the Interior Igor Zubov.
The meetings reviewed Qatar’s logistic preparations for hosting the 13th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, being held under the theme, “Integrating crime prevention and criminal justice into the wider United Nations agenda to address social and economic challenges and to promote the rule of law at the national and international levels, and public participation”.
The meetings also touched upon Russia’s position on various issues on the Congress’s agenda, and its concerns in the field of crime prevention and criminal justice, as well as agreement on the joint co-operation and co-ordination between the delegations of Russia and Qatar, which chairs the ongoing informal consultation rounds in Vienna to prepare the draft Doha Declaration.
