The Qatari-Omani Joint Committee’s follow-up committee held a meeting at the Ministry of Finance premises in Doha yesterday.  
Tasked with following the progress of the Supreme Committee, the follow-up committee addressed in its meeting yesterday a number of issues that were discussed in the previous Qatar-Omani Committee’s meetings headed by the finance ministers of both countries, according to a press statement released by the Ministry of Finance.  
The meeting focused on manpower, tourism, transport, environment, culture and education, and discussed ways to remove obstacles facing joint ventures between the two countries, the statement said.
It added that the two sides agreed to take all steps to overcome obstacles that hinder the implementation of joint projects between the two parties.

Three expats jailed for dealing in narcotics
The Criminal  Court has imprisoned and fined three Syrians accused of the possession, trading  and abuse of dangerous psychotropic substances worth QR1.75mn, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday.
The first accused was jailed for life and fined QR300,000, the third accused person imprisoned for 15 years and ordered to pay a fine of QR200,000, while the third accused person was handed down a 10-year jail term and a fine of QR200,000.
The Public Prosecution accused the first accused of bringing dangerous psychotropic substances, such as amphetamine pills, into Qatar in packs hidden in some machinery, for the purpose of selling.
The public prosecution  accused the two others of possession of the narcotic substance for the purpose of abuse and trading. About 202,000 pills were seized from the accused.
The arrest of the accused persons was made after investigations and monitoring their telephone communications. An ambush arranged by the police resulted in the capture of the three accused, the daily added.

Ministry recalls Dodge Challenger 2015 vehicles
A recall campaign for Dodge Challenger 2015 vehicles has been announced by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) in co-operation the United Cars Al Mana, the authorised distributor of Dodge vehicles in Qatar.  The recall is due to a default in the warning lights on the instrument panel. MEC would maintain close co-ordination with the authorised dealer to make sure that all the necessary repairs would be conducted appropriately.

Emir receives invitation
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani received an invitation from Indonesian President blic of Indonesia Joko Widodo to attend the Asia-Africa Conference. HE the Assistant Foreign Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamed bin Abdullah al-Rumaihi received the invitation yesterday when he met Indonesia’s ambassador to Doha Deddy Saeful Hadi.  Meanwhile, the speaker of the Indonesian Parliament Setia Novento received Qatar’s Ambassador to Jakarta Mohamed bin Khater al-Khater yesterday. They discussed bilateral relations.

Health Minister meets Pasteur Institute chief
HE the Minister of Public Health Abdullah bin Khalid al-Qahtani held separate meetings  in Doha yesterday with the president of the Institute Pasteur, Christian Brechot and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunisation (GAVI) Dr Seth Berkley.  Talks during the two meetings dealt with co-operation between the Supreme Council of Health and French Pasteur institute and GAVI Alliance. The French Ambassador to Qatar Eric Chevalier attended the first meeting while the two meetings were attended by a number of senior officials of the Supreme Council of Health.

Qatar-Algeria ties reviewed
Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ramtane Lamamra met Qatar’s Assistant Foreign Minister for International Co-operation Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani in Algiers yesterday.
They reviewed bilateral relations and decided to follow up on what has been agreed upon at the fifth session of Algerian-Qatari High Joint Commission meetings in addition to the exchange of views on issues of common interest.

Morocco House Speaker ends visit
The Speaker of Morocco’s House of Representatives (Lower House) Rachid Talbi Alami and his accompanying delegation left Doha yesterday after a two-day visit to Qatar. He was seen off at Hamad International Airport by HE the Speaker of Advisory Council Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi.
