More than 130 violations of the consumer protection laws were reported by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) during January.
MEC inspectors have exercised tight control on outlets in the local market, where they discovered many violations.
The violations were mostly about not disclosing the prices of items on display or charges for services offered, misleading description of the products, charging prices higher than those on the original tag, and launching sales promotions without permission.
Outlets violating the laws have been slapped with fines from QR5,000 to QR30,000, besides temporary closure for varying periods.
