Some 125 employees of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) have been honoured at a gathering held to present the MEC’s achievements in 2014 and future initiatives. HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani attended the event alongside HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani and senior MEC officials.
HE Sheikh Ahmed stressed the important role played by the employees in the achievements of the MEC. He said the first phase of the comprehensive services projects was accomplished last year, offering some 44 services. Besides, some outlets in the neighbourhood markets (Al Furjan markets) project have already started operating. The MEC also launched the warehouse area project last year and it is under implementation at present.“Last year saw a number of achievements and efforts in the area of consumer protection and combating commercial fraud,” said HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce, stressing that the MEC has maintained effective communication with consumers.
