Assistance Co-ordination Unit (ACU) has offered its heartfelt gratitude to the government of Qatar for its support to the activities of the organisation.
According to a statement issued by ACU officials, Suheir Atassi, president and orhan H Mohamed, CEO, the support of Qatar has made it possible for the ACU to co-ordinate the assistance to those most affected by the winter storm in Syria, in addition to rescuing the civilians who are living in the besieged areas in Syria.
The ACU and the Syrian Interim Government (SIG) are responding to the growing number of IDPs living in desperate need of humanitarian assistance thanks to generous Qatar contributions. In 2013, the solidarity and commitment of Qatar had enabled ACU to co-ordinate humanitarian aid to 4,000,000 Syrians.
As the tragic situation evolves and a peaceful resolution remains elusive, ACU will continue to stand alongside to co-ordinate assistance in Syria with the Syrian Interim Government as the implementing body of the Syrian National Coalition (SNC).
With Qatar support, ACU will remain steadfast in ensuring that through its humanitarian co-ordination, the suffering of Syrians is alleviated and their resilience strengthened.
As the conflict exceeds its fourth year, its impact on Syrians is deepening. ACU has renewed its appeal for further,  support to escalating humanitarian needs.
This continuing support is essential to enable the ACU and the SIG to fulfil its crucial humanitarian mission for the people in need in Syria.
Qatar’s $10mn donation has definitely helped to reduce the suffering for Syrians who are already facing temperatures below freezing, heavy snow, hail, rain and thunderstorms.
