The Al Darb Qatarisation programme of Qatar Airways, targeting Qatari nationals and Qatari mothers, is holding a two-day event to showcase opportunities available to local students, graduates, and professionals looking to improve their career prospects.
The “open days” event, which began yesterday, is in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030. Qatar Airways and the Al Darb Qatarisation programme support and invest in young Qatari talent by providing learning and development opportunities that inspire the “brightest and most hard-working” new professionals to accelerate and achieve their greatest potential.
Held at the Dasha Ballroom of Al Sharq Village & Spa, the open days encourage nationals to apply with the Al Darb programme at Qatar Airways. During the open days, potential applicants can discover details of the large range of options and tailor-made development courses that the five-star airline has available.
Al Darb offers nine programmes in many different departments of the airline and is open to Qataris looking for both national and international opportunities.
Visitors also have the chance to meet and talk to Al Darb trainees who are currently enrolled in the programme and graduates who have completed their training.
Candidates can also find out more about the many opportunities for development within Qatar Airways besides the mainstream pilot and engineering roles. Information about actual vacant roles across various departments within the company, which candidates can apply for, is also available at the open days.
“We are delighted to welcome young Qatari professionals and graduates to the Al Darb Qatarisation programme open days,” said Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar al-Baker.
He added, “This is a unique opportunity for students, graduates, and professionals looking to accelerate their ambitions and achieve their potential to discover more about the wide range of Al Darb programmes available at Qatar Airways, as well as meet some of our past and present trainees who will be happy to share their experiences with potential candidates.”
Qatar Airways vice-president National Talent Development Dr Kholode al-Obaidli said, “Our initiative is to inspire the brightest young people to reach their fullest potential, which in turn serves not only the country’s best interests but ensures that Qatar Airways itself maintains a steady stream of the best and brightest national talent entering the company to help maintain its hard-earned reputation as a five-star airline.”
The new recruits, composed of students, developees, and direct hires, will enter one of the nine educational and training programmes offered by the airline: National Scholarships programme, Cadet Pilot programme, Aircraft Maintenance Engineering programme, Summer Internship programme, Graduate Developee programme, Aviation Management programme, Airport Operations Programme, Jossor programme, and the Massey University MBA programme.
