National graduates and trainees with officials.

Qatargas CEO Sheikh Khalid bin Khalifa al-Thani presented tokens of appreciation to 44 national graduates and 43 national trainees at a ceremony organised recently to recognise the national trainees and graduates who successfully completed their individual development and training plans and moved into established positions.

Also present at the ceremony were members of the Qatargas Management Leadership Team (MLT) and representatives of the Learning & Development Department.

Addressing the graduates and trainees, the Qatargas CEO said: “It is my honour to meet with you today to recognise your achievement in successfully completing your training and individual development plans. We at Qatargas are proud to acknowledge your commitment and performance in reaching your established positions.

“For Qatargas, our young nationals represent the future of our company and our country. We will continue to support your career development within Qatargas and I encourage all of you to continue to make the most of all development opportunities.”

The National Employees Establishment Ceremony reflects the commitment of the CEO, MLT and the company’s Learning & Development Department to the continuous development of its national workforce and the promotion of quality Qatarisation in the company, according to a statement.

Qatargas won the prestigious 2014 Crystal Award for Supporting Qatarisation in recognition for its commitment to ongoing national development in Qatar. The Qatargas Learning & Development Department has many programmes that make Qatargas unique in developing national talent and helping national graduates reach their target positions and take their career to higher levels, the statement adds.

These include the Annual CEO Forum hosted by the Management Leadership Team and led by the Qatargas CEO. The forum provides a platform for transparent communication between the national employees and management and encourages nationals to showcase their achievements and ideas.

Qatargas was the first company in Qatar to develop an automated individual development plans system to support the training and development of its national workforce and ensure that they become fully qualified professionals. In addition, each national graduate is assigned a coach to ensure that s/he is guided to become a fully qualified professional at the completion of the individual development plans, the statement further notes.

Qatargas provides support for training, attachments with shareholders and rotational assignments within the company. It has several accreditations with globally recognised engineering institutions, such as the Institute for Engineering and Technology, and is a gold corporate partner with the Institute of Chemical Engineering. These accreditations ensure that the national employees are trained and developed within an internationally recognised training and development scheme and support them in becoming chartered members of these societies.
