HH Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim al-Thani, wife of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, attended the closing ceremony of the events hosted by the Al Fareej tent at Darb Al Saai, which was held as part of Qatar National Day celebrations.

Sheikha Jawaher honoured contest winners among schools. Khadija Primary School won the first rank by presenting a show on “Sports in the Qatari women’s lives”. Second rank was achieved by Jawan bin Jassim Primary School for boys. They presented a review on “The evolution of sport in Qatar until the 2022 World Cup.” Al Nahda Primary School for Girls came in the third place.

Sheikha Jawaher congratulated the participants and parents.The ceremony was attended by HE the Minister of Youth and Sports Salah bin Ghanim al-Ali, who is also the Chairman of the Darb Al Saai Organising Committee.

 

National Day greetings

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani sent cables of congratulations to King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan on his country’s National Day.

 

Labour Minister vists Darb Al Saai

HE the Minister of Labour and Social Affairs  Dr Abdullah bin Saleh Mubarak al-Khulaifi yesterday visited Darb Al Saai on the occasion of the Qatar National Day.

The Minister watched the various events and activities.

 

‘Arrive at parade venue early’

The commander of the Lekhwiya team, assigned for giving protection to the VIPs at the National Day celebrations, has advised those residents who intend to watch the parade to reach the venue at the Doha Corniche as early as possible this morning.

The parade is scheduled to start around 8am.

Lekhwiya Brigadier Khalid Abdullah al-Hoti told local Arabic daily Arrayah that elaborate arrangements have been made to seat people at the specially erected theatre at Al Rumeila Park for Families and the other seats alongside.

The senior official has also called upon the nationals and residents to co-operate with the security personnel assigned for the celebrations.

 

QFMA staff extend  congratulations

Qatar Financial Markets Authority (QFMA) has held a celebration for its staff to celebrate Qatar National Day.

The occasion reflects the achievements and renaissance achieved by Qatar in human, economic and social fields under the leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, the authority has said in a statement.

On this occasion, the QFMA management and all staff members have extended their congratulations to HH the Emir, HH the Father Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and the Qatari people.

QFMA CEO Nasser Ahmed al-Shaibi said, “Qatar National Day is a memorable day for our beloved State, when we renew and consolidate the sense of belonging and loyalty to our nation and leadership to move towards progress. QFMA, based on its vision, commits to develop the suitable legal and regulatory structure to support the significant growth and accomplishments of the State at various levels.”

QFMA hosted at its headquarters participants of the celebration from Umm Salal Ali Model Independent Primary Boys’ School, Al Thakhira Model Independent Boys’ School and Al Bayan Second Primary Independent Girls’ School. The students presented heritage folk performances, traditional dances and other shows.

 

New Onaiza family park opens

Ahead of the Qatar National Day celebrations today, the new Onaiza family park has been opened by the Minister of Municipality and Urban Planning HE Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Khalifa bin Abdulaziz al-Thani, local Arabic daily Al Sharq has reported.

The 24,000sq m park contains services buildings,  greenery, flowers, a play area for children, fountains, bathrooms, shaded seats, a covered theatre and a cafeteria. 

The opening of the new park takes the total number of parks in Qatar to 84, said Mohamed al-Khoori, director, Public Parks Department.
