Top honour for Sheikh Sabah

The GCC leaders and members of delegations honoured the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah who has been named by the United Nations as UN humanitarian leader.

The UN has named the State of Kuwait as a ‘global humanitarian hub.’

Addressing the GCC leaders, the Kuwaiti emir said the UN’s move was an honour for the Gulf Co-operation Council as a whole, the leaders and the people. 

He applauded the humanitarian efforts of all six nations.  He said that these efforts are due to the commitment of GCC States to carry out good deeds, and come to the aid of those in need and those affected by disaster, conflict or natural catastrophe. “Our joys, emotions and delights are one,” he stated.

 

Kuwaiti emir meets Qatari child with special needs

The Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmed al-Jaber al-Sabah met Qatari child Mohamed al-Muftah, the founder of an initiative called “Be Active” which aims to disseminate positivity, optimism, hope and awareness for people with special needs.

The Emir lauded the initiative which supports this category of society and promotes their humanitarian role.

Al-Muftah, a Qatari child with special needs, said that the Kuwaiti Emir’s words are a “beacon to me in my life”.

Al-Muftah told Kuwait News Agency after the meeting with the emir of Kuwait that he was extremely happy to have met the “humanitarian leader” who gave him guidance and tips that will “guide me in my career”. Al-Muftah said his meeting with the Kuwaiti Emir was the “greatest achievement of my life”.

On the role of Mohamed al-Muftah Foundation for Charitable Works, he said the initiative seeks to spread the message of love and peace and help the needy through an around-the-world mission which will take off from Doha as a Gulf project.

He added that the Foundation has a branch in Kuwait in co-operation with Al Anbaa daily newspaper, pointing out that the journey will officially be launched in six months.

 

Emir hosts banquet

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani hosted a dinner banquet in honour of the leaders and heads of delegations of the Gulf Co-operation Council states at Doha Sheraton yesterday.

After the function, the Emir bid a farewell to the leaders and heads of delegations of the GCC countries.
