The SEC decided to open the competition to sponsorship and Oryx has become its first ever sponsor. Oryx GTL’s financial support for this learning initiative will go towards the purchase of new science equipment that will be used by schools during the competition.
The primary objective of the National Science Competition, which is open to all independent boys’ and girls’ schools in Qatar, is to improve the teaching skills of science teachers and develop a passion among students for the subject.
HE the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Waheid Ali al-Hammadi said: “The National Science Competition has always been a subject dear to our hearts at the Supreme Education Council, as we truly believe that science is a catalyst for major achievements and that encouraging our students to compete in scientific topics will further enable them to succeed in a scientific career.
“We thank Oryx GTL for sponsoring this national competition and look forward to enhancing the engagement of the private sector in our activities. After all, we share a common goal - which is building a better future for our country through our students, who are one of the most valuable resources.”

The National Science Competition is the latest in a long line of priority educational and social initiatives Oryx GTL supports as part of its current corporate social responsibility programme, the theme of which is “capacity building”.
