The Qatari delegation headed by the Adviser to HE the Minister of Interior Major General Abdullah Yusuf al-Maal held discussions with a number of senior South African officials in Pretoria recently as part of the country’s preparations for the 13th UN Congress on Prevention of Crime and Criminal Justice.

Al-Maal is the Chairman of the Preparatory Committee for the 13th United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

The conference will be held in Doha in April next year.

The discussions dealt with the country’s logistical preparations to host the conference as well as the topics on the agenda where the two sides agreed on co-operation and co-ordination between  their delegations.

The talks were attended by officials from Ministries of Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation, Security and Human Rights of South Africa.

The South African delegation was headed by Montwedi, Chief Director for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs at the Department of International Relations and Co-operation.

The Qatar’s Ambassador to South Africa Salem Abdullah al-Jaber also attended the meeting.
