In partnership with the Qatari Businesswomen Association (QBWA) and Qatar Charity (QC), the Korean embassy - along with Korea Business Centre (Kotra), the commercial section of the Korean mission - recently hosted the WING Programme (Women International Network Group) in Doha.

One of Korea’s prominent business workshop events, the programme aims to empower future and current businesswomen to become global leaders.

More than 20 women participated in the workshop, which opened with remarks from Chung Keejong, Korean ambassador to Qatar; Aisha Alfardan, vice-chairwoman of QBWA; and Ibrahim Zainal, international department assistant manager and Gaza office manager at QC.

The Korean envoy said: “This event will not only assist businesswomen in gaining self-confidence in their fields, but will also help them understand the factors behind becoming successful and pursue their goals in any culture and environment.”

The QBWA vice-chairwoman thanked Korea Business Centre for holding the workshop, saying: “QBWA is always keen to partner with valuable initiatives that contribute to its efforts in women’s empowerment; this will only be the beginning of a long-term partnership that will include many initiatives and trade and cultural exchange between Qatari and Korean businesswomen.”
