HE Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces Air Vice-Marshal Ghanim bin Shaheen al-Ghanim yesterday met Zhang Jianhua, deputy director of China’s State Administration of Science, Technology and Industry for National Defence (SASTIND), and the delegation accompanying him. |
During the meeting, they exchanged views on a set of issues of mutual concern and reviewed aspects of co-operation between the two countries. Several senior army officers attended the meeting.
Jail term for assaulting doctor
The Criminal Court has sentenced a GCC citizen to six months imprisonment, for assaulting a doctor of Hamad Medical Corporation, reports local Arabic daily Arrayah. The convict hit the doctor, accusing him of delay in examining a patient accompanying him, while the doctor was busy examining another patient. The accused held the neck of the doctor, hit his head on the wall, threw him to the ground and hit him several times on his chest and face. The accused confessed his crime to the public prosecution and the Criminal Court issued the verdict and referred the civil lawsuit to the competent court.
Economic Affairs panel reconstituted

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued Emiri Decision No 88 of 2014, amending some provisions of Emiri Decision No 37 of 2001 on the establishment of the Supreme Council for Economic Affairs and Investment.
The decision stipulates that the council shall be reshuffled. It will comprise HH the Emir as chairman, HH the Deputy Emir as vice-chairman and include HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister (executive member), HE the Foreign Minister, HE the Minister of Energy and Industry, HE the Minister of Finance, HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce, Qatar Central Bank governor, the Emiri Diwan’s economic adviser and two representatives of Qatar Investment Authority as members.
