The arrival of locally-produced vegetables has considerably reduced the prices at the Central Vegetables and Fruits Market, Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday. The prices of vegetables like tomatoes, green leaves, cucumber and eggplants dropped by half compared to the previous weeks. A box of tomatoes is sold for around QR8-10 compared to QR15-25 last week. The price of eggplants is down to QR5 a bag compared to QR15-20 last week. The drop in prices is also attributed to increased quantities of fruits and vegetables being imported. Traders at the market, however, pointed out that the turnout of customers was not so good, according to Arrayah.
