HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and visiting Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces General Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan on Friday discussed “fraternal” relations between the two countries and prospects of enhancing them during a meeting.

Abu Dhabi’s crown prince was on a brief visit to Qatar to cement reconciliation between the two Gulf Arab states before the GCC summit in Doha next month.

The two leaders also discussed “the fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries, ways to consolidate them and prospects of reinforcing them” as well as GCC and regional issues.

The meeting reviewed the progress of Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) and the two countries’ keenness on promoting joint GCC action.

At the start of the meeting, Sheikh Mohamed conveyed to the Emir the greetings of UAE President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed al-Nahyan and his wishes of progress and prosperity for the people of Qatar.

For his part, the Emir entrusted Sheikh Mohamed to convey his wishes of bountiful good health to the UAE president, coupled with his wishes of more growth and development for the people of the UAE.

HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and the Personal Representative of the Emir, HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al-Thani attended the meeting.

Also present was HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani.

From the UAE side, it was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Saif bin Zayed al-Nahyan and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan.

HH the Emir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of the Abu Dhabi crown prince and his accompanying delegation.

The Emir later led well-wishers to see off the Abu Dhabi crown prince and his accompanying delegation. Also present at Hamad International Airport to bid farewell to the Abu Dhabi crown prince were Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad, Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad and Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser.

At a meeting in Riyadh on November 16, GCC leaders said they had agreed to turn over a new page in relations within the alliance.

Earlier, the Emir had led well-wishers to welcome the Abu Dhabi crown prince and his accompanying delegation upon their arrival at Hamad International Airport.

Also present at the airport to welcome the Abu Dhabi crown prince were the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad and HH Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad, the Personal Representative of HH the Emir.
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani was also at the airport to welcome the Abu Dhabi crown prince
