Ooredoo has created a giant 3D mural starring its brand ambassador Nasser al-Attiyah.

The artwork is on display at Landmark mall until December 4 and aims to generate interest in this genre of artwork in the country as well as celebrate the company’s “bigger and faster” network, according to a statement.

The painting, which was created over two days by internationally renowned artist Kurt Wenner, is the first ever 3D painting to be displayed in Qatar and portrays al-Attiyah and his Ooredoo-branded
rally car.

The artwork is spread over 5x5m on the floor and 5x3m on the wall and, through an optical illusion technique, is able to create the effect that the rally car is leaping off the floor and into the space.

It is part of Ooredoo’s latest campaign to highlight the advantages of being on its
network, the statement adds.

Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari, director of Community & Public Relations at Ooredoo, said: “Ooredoo believes in engaging the public in everything we do and, by bringing a new interactive form of art to the community, we hope to inspire people as well as highlight our network. Throughout 2014, we’ve constantly shown we are working hard to enhance our portfolio and technology and wanted to show this in an unusual way. We thank Kurt Wenner for this piece and hope you all get the chance to see it.”

Wenner is best known for his invention of 3D pavement art. He has been the subject of the 1987 ‘Masterpieces in Chalk’ documentary, which won first place in the fine arts division at the New York Film Festival and has won several awards, including the Golden Bacchus and Golden Giotto.
