Mohamed al-Housani of Qatar was named the overall winner of “Stars of Science” in a thrilling live finale in Doha concluding the sixth season of Qatar Foundation's "edutainment reality" TV programme on MBC4.

Al-Housani earned a combined score of 49.6% from public voting and a jury deliberation to win the contest. He received $300,000 to help develop his Efficient Solar Energy System, Taqatech.

Sultan AlSubhi from Oman, inventor of Wudu1, the Wudu’ Area Robotic Cleaner, bagged the second place with a combined score of 23.4% and received $150,000.

Rania Bou Jaoudeh from Lebanon came in third place with a combined score of 19.4% for her Automatic Zucchini Corer invention Corizta.

Thieab al-Dossary, inventor of Feelix, the Tactile Communication Bracelet, placed fourth with a combined score of 7.6%.

Bou Jaoudeh and al-Dossary will receive $100,000 and $50,000 respectively.

"I am delighted to win first place of Stars of Science Season 6 and proud to represent Qatar,” said al-Housani. “The competition was an incredible experience that was made unforgettable by my fellow candidates as well as the program's mentors, judges and viewers.”

“I thanked Qatar Foundation for making the program possible and continuing to believe in the potential of young Arab innovators like myself. It is my hope that others around the region are encouraged to participate in Stars of Science," he added.

Launched in 2009 by the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, Stars of Science is the region’s first pan-Arab Edutainment TV program dedicated to innovation.

Innovators interested in entering Stars of Science Season 7 can still submit their applications until December 10.

Young Arab innovators between the ages of 18 -30 are encouraged to apply via the official Stars of Science website www.starsofscience.com.
