Minister meets Sudanese first vice-president
Sudanese First Vice-President General Bakri Hassan Saleh met HE the Minister of Environment Ahmed Amer Mohamed al-Humaidi, who is currently visiting Sudan. Discussions dealt with results of the talks held by the Minister of Environment and prospects for the developing co-operation in the environment sector.
The minister said in a statement that he had discussed with Sudanese first vice-president ways to strengthen investment and promote bilateral relations, especially in the fields of environment and desertification.
The minister and his Sudanese counterpart yesterday signed the minutes of their meeting.
National Day greetings sent
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to President of the Czech Republic Milos Zeman on his country’s National Day.
Merweb rebrands as Murwab Hotels
Katara Hospitality has rebranded its home-grown hotel brand, Merweb Hotels to Murwab Hotels. Katara Hospitality will open a number of hotels in Doha and abroad under the new brand in 2015. This was announced by Salem al-Kubaisi, chief corporate services officer, Katara Hospitality yesterday. Al-Kubaisi said: “Murwab Hotels has undergone a complete rebranding process. As we embark on this next phase of growth, we shall be renaming the brand previously known as ‘Merweb’ to ‘Murwab,’ a subtle yet significant change to its brand identity.” The official said: “Murwab Hotels carries on this tradition of hospitality and generosity today and is very excited to announce that it shall be opening a number of new hotels in 2015, both in Doha and abroad with the first international property
opening in Lausanne, Switzerland.”
Police College to admit Qatari women
Director-general of Police College Brig Dr Mohamed Abdullah al-Marri has said the college would shortly admit female citizens to study, train and join the police force, local Arabic daily Arrayah has reported. He stressed that female citizens would work with policemen to ensure the security and safety of Qatar. Explaining that female enrolment would require some arrangements such as providing suitable accommodation and study halls, Brig Dr al-Marri highlighted the importance of women’s involvement in the police force and pointed to their proven efficiency in working in different police departments since the 70s. Further, he said the Police College works to promote the values of justice, human rights and respect for all other rights and freedoms, while providing service to the motherland and the community, the report added.
