Qatar and Ecuador signed a set of agreements with a view to strengthening bilateral relations following official talks between HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani and Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa in Doha yesterday.
The talks, which were held at the Emiri Diwan, were attended by several ministers and the members of the official delegation accompanying President Correa.
During the session, the two sides discussed bilateral relations and means to strengthen them in different spheres.
Following the talks the Emir and President Correa witnessed the signing of the following agreements and memorandum of understanding:
1. An agreement between the governments of Qatar and Ecuador on waiving visa requirements for holders of diplomatic and special passports.
2. An agreement on avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to income taxes
3. A memorandum of goodwill on media co-operation and exchange of news between Qatar News Agency and the Secretariat of the National Telecommunications of the Government of Ecuador.
Later the Emir hosted a luncheon banquet in honour of the Ecuadorean president and his accompanying delegation.
Earlier on arrival at the Emiri Diwan, President Correa was accorded an official reception ceremony.
