The Ministry of Interior (MoI) yesterday said that deals worth QR187.8mn have been finalised with seven companies in the first two days of the Milipol Qatar Exhibition.

Brigadier Saud Rashid al-Shafi, director, procurement department, and member of the Milipol Qatar Committee, said the first contract worth QR34mn was signed with Al Dar Marine Co for 20 Italian-made search and rescue boats for Coasts and Borders Security Department.

The second contract worth QR61.5mn was concluded with Al Hamad Trading Establishment for the purchase of 24 fire fighting vehicles and maintenance of a number of fire and rescue vehicles for the Civil
Defence.

An agreement worth QR22.4mn was signed with Salam Technology for supply and operation of security surveillance systems and
programmes.

The government has inked a QR16.5mn agreement with Global Enterprises Technologies (GET) to supply cards for issuing driving licence and vehicle permits for the General Directorate of Traffic.

A contract worth QR6.8mn was made with Saleh Hamad Al-Mana Co for the purchase of 114 vehicles for MoI
services.

Air Defence and Space Co bagged a contract worth QR36.6mn for development and maintenance of Tetra Communication System for MoI’s communications
department.

A QR9.9mn contract was made with Itqan Technologies to supply smart ID cards for General Directorate of Nationality, Borders and Expatriate Affairs.

Turkish minister lauds ties: Turkish Interior Minister Alaa Avkan lauded the existing relations between his country and the State of Qatar in various fields.

On the sidelines of the 10th edition of Milipol Qatar 2014, Avkan said that the Qatari-Turkish ties are witnessing high co-ordination on issues of mutual concern, adding that the co-ordination in positions reflects level of relations in
all fields.  

He commended participation of big international companies specialised in the field of security in Milipol Qatar 2014, noting that such participation reflects the high status enjoyed by Qatar at the international level.  

He affirmed his country’s keenness to participate in Milipol Qatar 2014, saying that this participation reflects the confidence in the exhibition and the excellent relations between the two countries.
